A woman had a glass jar with 90 Xanax pills in her groin area, according to an arrest affidavit.
Zulema Carreon, of Hebbronville, was arrested and charged with import and conspire to import a controlled substance.
Carreon, 38, arrived on Sept. 27 at the pedestrian lane of the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge. She provided a negative declaration for narcotics to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. CBP officers then discovered a bulge in her groin area, according to court documents.
“(CBP officers) conducted a pat down on Carreon, that led to the discovery of 90 pills of Xanax within a glass jar,” states the affidavit.
Homeland Security Investigations special agents responded to take over the case. Carreon allegedly agreed to provide a statement.
“In a post-Miranda interview, Carreon stated she purchased the Xanax in Mexico for personal use. Carreon stated she concealed the glass jar upon crossing into the (United States) to avoid detection for lack of providing proof of prescription,” states the affidavit.
